Masdar History

The year was 1970, Abdulkadir AbdulMohsen Al-Muhaidib & his eldest son AbdulHameed commenced on trading imported metals & cement from King Abdulaziz Seaport in Dammam to various shops in the vicinity, 1 year later AbdulHameed moved to Riyadh and established the first physical branch. This was the beginning of Al-Muhaidib Building Materials Company (Masdar).

The newly formed company started to expand by opening new locations within the Kingdom and adding new line items. In 1981, a new company was established under the name of Al-Muhaidib Hardware Co. specializes in importing and distributing tools, handles & door hardware. In 1989 a professional architectural hardware department was founded to cater for large projects.

In 2003, the group ventured into fasteners trading, fabrication, and distribution by acquiring 2 fabrication units & 2 trading entities, creating Al Muhaidib Technical Supplies Co. to unify & manage them. The new company added capabilities to service and plate fasteners for the oil & gas industry.

In 2014, AK Al-Muhaidib & Sons holding the 3 companies to form “Masdar” Building Materials CJSC with paid-up capital of SAR 400 Mil. In 2017, Masdar opened its first builder’s merchant mega branch to fulfil the vision of a 1 stop shop for all building material requirements.

To align with Vision 2030, Masdar decided to establish Masdar Service Industries to provide our customers with value-added fabrication and customization. Today, Masdar operates 4 fabrication units in the Kingdom to produce value-added Fasteners, Cold & Hot Rolled Flat Metal Products, long Steel Products & Wooden Panel Customization.

Today, Masdar leads the building materials sector in Saudi Arabia by operating 105 branches in 29 Cities with more than 80,000 SKUs of long & flat steel, sawn timber, wooden sheets, decoratives, plumbing, electricals, adhesives, chemicals, tools, door hardware, insulations, fasteners, access control & smart opening solutions.
